HP Inc. (NYSE: HPQ) is among the leading providers of computing products and services globally. The company makes and sells PCs, laptops, printers, accessories, and other products. It sells to individual customers, small and medium businesses, large enterprises, government customers, and customers in the education and health sectors.

HP Inc experienced a decline in its net revenue in 2020 compared to the previous two years. The company’s net revenue in 2020 decline by 3.6% as compared to fiscal 2019. Its net revenue in 2020 reached $56.64 billion compared to $58.8 billion in 2019. The decline in Desktops, Supplies, Commercial Printing Hardware and unfavorable foreign currency impacts drove the decrease in HP’s net revenue, partially offset by growth in Notebooks.

HP’s gross margin was 18.4% for the fiscal year 2020 compared with 19.0% for 2019.

HP is  a leading provider of PC and other access devices, imaging and printing products, and related technologies, solutions and services. The brand has a large customer base globally. It sells to individual customers, SMEs, large enterprises, government customers as well as health and education sectors. Founded in 1939 by William R Hewlett and David Packard, HP was incorporated in 1947. In 2015, HP was divided into HP and HPE or Hewlett Packard Enterprises. After the separation Hewlett Packard company changed its name to HP Inc. The brand has achieved some serious growth since it separated from HPE. Having overtaken Lenovo, HP has become the biggest PC maker of the world. In 2016, the brand acquired the printing business by Samsung which has also helped it gain momentum. However, given the decline experienced by the PC and printing businesses in the recent years, HP has acquired some impressive strength. 

The laptop and computing industry has grown highly competitive resulting in higher spending on advertising and promotions. However, HP’s advertising expenses have fallen during the recent years. It reduced from 586 million dollars in 2016 to 544 million dollars in 2017.  In 2015, its advertising expenses stood at 635 million dollars.
