Largest aerospace brands

Boeing:

Boeing is a leading aerospace brand. It makes commercial airplanes as well as defense and space products including fighter planes,  choppers, missile defense and weapons. Commercial airplanes are its largest source of revenue. Boeing’s range of commercial airplanes includes the 737, 746, 767, 777 and 787. Apart from them, Boeing also makes business jets. Revenue of Boeing in 2018 was $101.13 Billion. Boeing is the world’s largest aerospace company and also the largest exporter in US.

Airbus:-

Airbus is also an international pioneer in Aerospace industry. The company makes passenger aircrafts as well as corporate jets and freighter jets. Its line of passenger aircrafts includes the A220, A 330, A 350 and A380. Apart from that Boeing also makes products for the military including A400m and military and civil choppers.  It has also brought a large range of space products including satellites, space infrastructure and launchers. In 2018, its revenue reached 63.7 Billion Euros.

Lockheed martin:-

Lockheed Martin is also a leading name in the aerospace and defense industry. The company operates in four business areas that include Aeronautics, Missiles and fire control, Rotary and mission systems as well as space products. The company makes defense aircrafts, choppers as well as unmanned aerial vehicles. It has brought a large range of defense products. Some of the defense aircrafts produced by Lockheed Martin include F16 fighting falcon, F2 support fighter, F21, F22 raptor and F35 lightning II. Revenue of Lockheed Martin in 2018 was 53.7 Billion dollars.

United technologies:-

United Technologies is also a global leader in aerospace and building technologies. Its aerospace businesses are Collins Aerospace and Pratt and Whitney. These two brands make next generation aircraft engines as well integrated systems and components. Collins aerospace is among the largest providers of aerospace systems, avionics, interior systems as well as information management services for commercial aircraft. The company also offers a  large range of flight support services for business aviation as well as a large range of solutions for military and defense as well as space infrastructure. Pratt and Whitney, another business unit of United Technologies is a leading provider of engines and auxiliary power units.

BAE systems:-

BAE systems is  a leading aerospace and defense company. Apart from aircraft capabilities, it also offers a long range of products and services related to cybersecurity, cabin systems and engine controls. It also makes electronic warfare systems that detect and defeat advanced radio frequency threats. The company manufactures and offers support services for typhoon combat aircraft. It also manufactures major subassemblies and systems for F35 lightning II aircraft. Other aircrafts for which BAE provides in service support include Tornado and Hawk trainer. 2018 revenue of BAE was 18.4 Bn Pounds.

General dynamics:-

General dynamics is another leading global aerospace and defense company with a broad portfolio of products and services that  include business aviation, combat vehicles, weapon systems and munitions as well ship building and repair apart from IT and C4ISR solutions.

General Dynamics’ Aerospace group including Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation and Jet Aviation are leading the business jet industry. Gulfstream makes some of the world’s most technologically advanced business aircraft and offers global product support and service. On the other hand, Jet Aviation offers comprehensive business aviation services, custom completions and a global network of facilities to aircraft owners and operators. Its 2018 revenue was $36,193 million.

Northrop Grumman:

Northrop Grumman is a leading global security company with a broad portfolio that includes aerospace and defense as well as cybersecurity products. In commercial aviation, NorthGrop Grumman provides advanced navigation, airspace management and commercial aircraft protection systems. Its Aerospace Systems, headquartered in Redondo Beach, California, is a leader in the design, development, integration and production of manned aircraft, autonomous systems, spacecraft, high-energy laser systems, microelectronics and other systems and subsystems. Aerospace Systems’ customers, include mainly the DoD and other U.S. government agencies, which use these systems in mission areas including intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), strike operations, communications, earth observation and space science. The business of Aerospace systems is divided into three business areas: Autonomous Systems, Manned Aircraft and Space. The net revenues of the company grew to $30 billion in 2018.

Raytheon :-

Raytheon is another aerospace company that specializes in defense, civil government and cybersecurity solutions. It was founded in 1922. The company offers state of the art electronics, mission systems integration C5Iâ„¢ products and services, sensing, effects and mission support services. Raytheon has its headquarters in Waltham, Massachusetts.

The business of Raytheon is divided into five segments : Integrated Defense Systems; Intelligence, Information and Services; Missile Systems; Space and Airborne Systems; and Forcepoint.  

The company earned $27 billion in sales in 2018.

Rolls Royce :-

Rolls Royce is a large company whose portfolio also includes aerospace and defense products. The company offers products and services in five key categories that include Civil aerospace, defense, power systems, Nuclear and R2 data labs. In the  Aerospace category the company offers Trent aircraft engines that are used by other aerospace brands like Airbus and Boeing. In the defense category, the company is a market leader in aero-engines for military transport and patrol aircraft as well as combat and helicopter applications.

The revenue of the company in  2018 was £ 15,067 million.

GE Aviation :-

GE aviation is also a leading name in the aerospace field. The company is a leading provider of commercial, military and business and general aviation jet and turboprop engines and components apart from avionics, electrical power and mechanical systems for aircraft. GE also has a global service support network to support these offerings. The company makes and sells a large range of engines for commercial and military aircraft. It also offers turboprop and turbofan engines for business and general aviation. The headquarters of GE aviation are in Ohio, United States. The revenue of GE aviation in 2017 was 27.4 Billion dollars.

Safran :-

Safran is also a leading name in aerospace and defense. The company has a worldwide presence and generated 21 billion Euros in revenue in 2018. It makes and sells products in the following categories: aircraft engines and nacelles, aerosystems, aircraft interiors, engine equipment, landing systems, electrical systems and avionics. Apart from these the company also makes satellite propulsion and equipment as well as launch vehicles and space optics.  In the defense category, the company makes navigation systems and missile propulsion.

Space X :-

Space X was founded in 2002. However, the company has become a leading name in the space technology within a  limited span of time. The company designs makes and launches advanced rockets and spacecraft. The company has achieved several major milestones during its lifetime. Some of its leading products are Falcon 9, Falcon heavy and Dragon. Falcon 9 is a two stage aircraft designed and manufactured by Space X. Falcon heavy is considered one of the most powerful rockets in the world and Dragon is a freeflying aircraft designed to carry both people and cargo.

Blue Origin :-

Blue Origin was founded by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos in 2000. It is developing technologies for human access into space while also working on lowering costs of space travel. Engines made by Blue origin are powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security and human spaceflight. New Shepard is a reusable suborbital rocket system designed for taking astronauts and research payloads past the Kármán line – the internationally recognized boundary of space. On the other hand, New Glenn is a single configuration heavy-lift launch vehicle which can carry people and payloads routinely to Earth orbit and beyond.
